About
Simon graduated from Williams College in 1979 and received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Harvard University in 1983. He joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the University of California, San Diego in 1985 until 1998 when he moved to Duke University where, from 1999 until he chaired the school's chemistry department.[2] In August, 2011, Teresa Sullivan announced him as the successor to Arthur Garson, Jr as executive vice president and provost. In addition, he is the Robert C. Taylor Professor of Chemistry.[1]
