John Pfaltz is a professor emeritus in computer science at the University of Virginia. He was also an independent candidate for the city treasurer special election on April, 2, 2013. [1]

Pfaltz also served on the 2004 Charlottesville Elections Study Task Force. [2]

Treasurer's race

Pfaltz challenged Jason Vandever for the office of city treasurer in early 2013, claiming that the Democratic party's control over the seat meant that the city was not investigating shortfalls to the retirement system. However, Pfaltz fell short of his goal to unseat Vandever, and only received 397 of the 1,683 votes cast. [3]

City Council candidacy

In 2000, Pfaltz ran unsuccessfully for City Council as a Republican.[4]
