"As buildings fundamentally impact peoples’ lives and the health of the planet, our mission is to create a positive impact on the region’s built environment. Through the consensus process, and by drawing on the experience of stakeholders in the building industry, we will:
- Promote cost effective design, construction and operation of buildings that are healthy places to live and work, environmentally responsible, and profitable.
- Serve the James River Green Building Council members and our communities through development of industry standards, design practices and technologies, green building and design policy advocacy, information exchange, and education.
- Encourage a widespread acceptance of LEED certified buildings as the regional standard."
