Mission Statement

"As buildings fundamentally impact peoples’ lives and the health of the planet, our mission is to create a positive impact on the region’s built environment. Through the consensus process, and by drawing on the experience of stakeholders in the building industry, we will:

1. Promote cost effective design, construction and operation of buildings that are healthy places to live and work, environmentally responsible, and profitable.
2. Serve the James River Green Building Council members and our communities through development of industry standards, design practices and technologies, green building and design policy advocacy, information exchange, and education.
3. Encourage a widespread acceptance of LEED certified buildings as the regional standard."^[1]
