The Ivy Creek Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Charlottesville that preserves and manages the Ivy Creek Natural Area for community education and appreciation.

History

After receiving a large monetary donation the Nature Conservancy created the Rann Preserve in the fall of 1975. With further help from the Nature Conservancy and a state grant, the deed was transferred to the city and the county in the fall of 1978, and the Ivy Creek Natural Area was born. The foundation was created a few months later in early 1979[1]. The foundation was a recommendation from an advisory committee that was chaired by Susan Schmidt.

The foundation's mission is connecting people to our lands present and past.
