The 1,180 space Ivy Road Parking Garage was built in the early 2000s by the University of Virginia to replace spaces lost to construction elsewhere on Grounds[1] Its construction was opposed by the Lewis Mountain Neighborhood Association[citation needed].

The facility opened for business on November 12, 2003[2] and is operated by the University's Parking and Transportation Division.

Consistency with U.Va Master Plan

The University of Virginia calls for removing cars from Central Grounds by building large parking structures on the perimeter. This was accomplished with the construction of the Ivy Road Parking Garage. The facility is largely closed to faculty and staff[citation needed].
