Hydraulic Road runs from U.S. 250 at the intersection of Rugby Road Extended, crosses U.S. Route 29, and continues northward until it ends at its intersection with Earlysville Road and West Rio Road.

Within the city, the road is one of Charlottesville's Entrance Corridors.

U.S. 29 intersection

A grade-separated interchange at Hydraulic and U.S. Route 29 was one of many ideas being considered as city, county and regional officials came up with Smart Scale applications for the 2018 cycle.

This planning project is also one of the final of the Route 29 Solutions. [1]

Michie Drive intersection

In February 2012, City Council was presented with reasons why a traffic signal at the intersection with Michie Drive was not warranted. [2]
