History

In 1948, the Atlantic Seaboard Corporation was planning to build a 20-inch natural gas pipeline from Cobbs, West Virginia to Rockville, Maryland. Officials met in closed session with City Council on March 18, 2016 to discuss a connection to the city. City officials had had no luck securing a connection to the fuel. [2]

Council was briefed on April 9, 1948 on a recommendation to build a propane plant at the city gas works at a cost of no more than $25,000. [3] They authorized the purchase because it would expand daily output of the plant to 100,000 cubic feet. [4] In 1957, the company raised their rates. [5]
