The Charlottesville-Albemarle Transportation Coalition, Inc. (CATCO) was a local citizens group opposed to the Route 29 Western Bypass.

In 2000 CATCO produced the Route 29 Bypass Green Book, which summarized the project's history for the period between 1980 and early 2000. It outlines the steps taken by both bypass opponents and supporters.[1]

The group became active again in 2011 when the bypass was revived. They filed a series of Freedom of Information Act requests from the Virginia Department of Transportation in order to obtain internal documents.[2] In Oct 2013, CATCO was accused of skirting registration requirements after Albemarle County Supervisor Kenneth C. Boyd filed a formal complaint about several radio advertisements run by the group.[3] CATCO appears to have been inactive since 2013, and plans for the bypass were discontinued in 2014. [4]
