Cellular Materials International, Inc. is a Charlottesville company affiliated with the University of Virginia to develop advanced engineered materials generated through the university's engineering research.

History

Founded in 2001, Cellular Materials International, Inc. (CMI) specializes in advanced material design and use in everyday applications.[1] As of 2012 CMI is paired with the UVA School of Architecture to study and address the issue of home destruction due to natural disaster. In 2012, Albemarle County recognized CMI as one of four "Albemarle Entrepreneurs to Watch" for building on UVA partnership to meet global challenges.[2] CMI has a license to certain technologies through an agreement with the UVA Patent Foundation. [3]
