About

Born with a spinal lesion that has gradually and increasingly limited his mobility, Schwaner says he spends about 1,000 hours annually volunteering. He often volunteers for theater groups, contributing to Black Box Players and Play On! Theatre, as well as assisting with productions at Albemarle High School. In addition to his work with local theater groups, Schwaner volunteers with the Boy Scouts. In 2011 Schwaner was recognized as one of the Daily Progress Distinguished Dozen for his services to the community.[1]
