Acme Visible Records

Acme Visible Records was a company that once occupied a 286,187 square foot building on Route 240 in Crozet. [1] The company was known as the Wilson Jones Company at the time of its closing. [2]

The building and its property was the subject of environmental remediation overseen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. [3].

History

The company began operations in 1954 and manufactured storage and retrieval equipment for documents. Activity ceased in 1992. As part of the the operations, wastewater was directed into a lagoon which contained several pollutants including arsenic, barium, benzene, bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate, lead, naphthalene, tetrachloroethene, trichloroethene, and vinyl chloride. Remediation

Demolition on several buildings got underway in 2013. [2]
