Accreditation is one of two accountability systems used in Virginia's public schools, and represents whether or not a school or division is accredited by the Commonwealth of Virginia. The second accountability measure, Annual Measurable Objectives, determines a school or division's standing against federal accountability measures[1].

Accreditation is determined by a school's pass rates on Standards of Learning exams in English, science, history and social sciences, and math. At the high school level, a graduation rate index is also taken into account[2].
