James Kirk Baldi is an accountant and the former owner of Bel Rio who fled the area following a series of fraud allegations and controversies regarding the sudden closure of the restaurant in 2010. [1] In December 2010, Judge Edward Hogshire ruled that Baldi owes over $45,000 to one of his former investors. Baldi is also wanted on two counts of embezzlement from Duraclean, an Albemarle County business for which he provided book-keeping services[1]

Baldi was eventually located in San Francisco and was arrested in January 2013. [2]
