A second phase of development began to planned in 2011. Southern Development obtained a rezoning from residential to planned unit development in order to construct a 35-unit neighborhood. [1]

As part of the development, Southern Development will designate at least seven units as "affordable", meaning their deeds will be restricted to citizens who only make 80% of the average median income. This restriction was to have lasted for 30 years. Habitat for Humanity will build other units as part of the project.

Third phase

Burnet Commons was being developed jointly with Habitat for Humanity with a total of 50 homes. [2] [3] When completed, the new phase will include 18 Habitat homes and 32 built by Southern Development. It is now known as Burnet Commons III: The Park. [4]

The first families moved into the development at the end of 2015. [5] A dedication ceremony was held in August 2016. [6]
