The Charlottesville Democratic Committee (aka "Cville Dems" and "Charlottesville Democratic Party") runs the City of Charlottesville's branch of the Democratic party.

As of April 7th 2023, the boundary lines for the city’s nine voting precincts were officially revised. Under the revisions, Tonsler Recreation Center and Alumni Hall were removed as polling locations, while Jackson-Via Elementary School and Charlottesville High School become polling places.

2024 Party Officers & Precinct Chairs

The Biennial Reorganization meeting was held on January 13, 2024. The Precinct Representatives and ex officio members, who together make up the Charlottesville Democratic Committee (“The Full Committee”), elected candidates for the following offices:

Executive Committee

  • Co-Chairs: Josh Throneberg and Nancy Damon
  • Vice Chair: Dashad Cooper
  • Treasurer: Jason Vandever
  • Co-Secretaries: Ruth Goldeen and Will Evans

Four other positions on the Executive Committee that are appointed, not elected:

  2. Voter Registration: Suzanne Michels
  3. Voter Protection: Jeremy Jones

2010 Officers

Election 2011

The committee held a "firehouse primary" on August 20, 2011 to nominate three candidates for City Council. The unofficial count shortly after the polls closed was 2,524 votes including 284 absentee votes. It will be held at Burley Middle School. [4]This is delayed from its originally scheduled date of May 14, 2011[5].
