Virginia held hold elections November 6 2012 for federal offices and Virginia constitutional amendments. No Charlottesville or Albemarle offices were contested.

Constitutional amendments

Main article: Eminent domain#House Bill 5

House Bill 5 proposed a Virginia constitutional amendment to change the text of Article I of the Bill of Rights. Proposed by Del. Robert B. Bell, the amendment only allow the minimum amount of private property to be taken for government use and for the owner to be aptly compensated. [1] The amendment passed. [2]
